Wine Barrel Container Gardens
All I can say about wine barrels for container gardens is that I love love love them. They’re big enough to grow yourself a mini garden of flowers, greens or herbs. And even big enough for growing tomatoes. Plus, they just look good. I spotted this cute little wine barrel garden in my neighborhood. I’m loving watching their spinach, kale and chard grow.
The sunniest part of my backyard is the patio, rather than the in-ground vegetable garden. (Can you tell I mostly do container gardening when I need to quality in-ground garden?) So this year, I’m putting tomatoes and other sun-loving plants in wine barrels and other big pots on the sunny patio to soak it all up.
Here’s a new (to me) wine barrel I got from Annie’s Annuals. Somehow I love even more that it’s wine stained. Naturally, I had to buy the grape pomace compost to go with it. (Sadly, I didn’t have my own grape pomace to compost with this fall, like I did the previous year.) Look at that gorgeous wine stain color.
