In the Kitchen: Avocado + Herb Toasts

I love avocado. It’s one of the most perfect amazing delicious foods. Last night I was craving avocado so I built a tasty, simple dinner around it.

I stopped at local bakery on the way home, and managed to score a round of whole wheat sourdough right before they closed. I spent a little bit of the evening watering the back yarden and my patio container garden and did a little harvesting of herbs and greens.

My snacky dinner was super easy. Toasted the bread. Slather on avocado slices. Drizzle good olive oil (I like Bariani, because it’s from a family olive grove in Sacramento and sold locally). Salt and pepper it. Sprinkle chopped herbs on top. I used chervil, chives, garlic chives and flat leaf Italian parsley… all from my container garden. For the toasts with cheese I added fresh arugula and chard leaves from my back garden, and also sprinkled them with herbs. Yum.
